Howard University continues its commitment to the proposal submitted to the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation in December 2003 to infuse entrepreneurship education throughout the campus community and to transform the way that students are prepared for success in the global community. The Institute defines entrepreneurship as a process of discovering opportunities, evaluating risks, and adding value to situations, projects, activities, ventures, organizations and businesses. In this context a major objective of the ELI Institute is the faculty fellowship program in which professors from all academic areas will be granted fellowships to conduct primary, practical research and develop or adapt curriculum to include entrepreneurship principles.

Purpose
The Howard University Faculty Fellows program at the Institute for Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Innovation (ELI) is designed to stimulate entrepreneurship research and support faculty in developing and teaching entrepreneurship courses across disciplines. The Purpose of the Faculty Fellows Program is to increase the level and quality of entrepreneurship research, and to build up the entrepreneurship mindset of students irrespective of academic focus.
